ABOUT ME
Born and raised on Canada's West Coast, Torsten has always been passionate about music. Growing up he played and listened to many genres of music but it was always the pairing of music and film that really captured his imagination; This was music directly supporting and informing a story, that took you on a journey upon each listen.
Primarily educated in jazz music, Torsten takes influence from this and his love of films to bring a more narrative, programmatic approach to composition.
Aside from the notable films Torsten has been a sole composer for, he has also worked closely with many incredible composers and teams to make the scores for some truly amazing projects. This includes award-winning composers Timothy Williams and Drew Krassowski (known for Get Out, Watchmen, Guardians of the Galaxy), composer Terry Frewer (Head in the Clouds, The Princess Switch) and most recently as assistant and project manager for composer Jonathan Kawchuk on the CBC documentaries Carbon: The Unauthorized Biography, and True Survivors, released in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
Torsten currently resides on Vancouver Island, B.C and has been busy composing music for both local and international projects in a variety of styles. Several of the films from these projects have debuted at international film festivals around the world and a handful of them are on Torsten's IMDB page.
A current member of The Screen Composer's Guild of Canada, He also writes string quartet pieces regularly and is currently working on these and other projects that will debut in the near future.
